// Application 03 of 07
Clean, mild sweetness with real body. Low glycaemic bulk for drink powders, syrups and ready mixes that need sucrose mouthfeel without the sugar load.
80 / 150
mesh, fast-dispersing powders
24 months
shelf life, stored dry
GI 9
low glycaemic response
// Why isomalt here
01
Mouthfeel, not just sweetness
High-intensity sweeteners leave beverages thin. Isomalt restores the body and viscosity that sucrose used to provide.
02
Clean, stable, neutral
No aftertaste, no reaction with acids or flavours, no colour drift on shelf. It behaves in a bottle the way sucrose does.
03
Diabetic-friendly claims
GI 9 and a low insulin response put sugar-free and diabetic-friendly claims within reach for mainstream drink formats.
// How it performs
Typical values for NT-ST-80 / 150 in this application. Batch COAs and full specification sheets ship with every sample.
Solubility
Easily soluble in cold water, at a slower rate than sucrose. Finer grades disperse fastest
Sweetness
0.5 of sucrose; pair with sucralose, stevia or ace-K for full sweetness
Acid stability
Chemically stable under normal conditions; reducing sugars at or below 0.3%
Heat stability
Withstands pasteurisation and hot-fill without degradation
Recommended grade
NT-ST-80 (80 mesh) or NT-ST-150 (150 mesh); the finer grade disperses fastest
// Formulation notes
01
For drink powders, blend NT-ST-80 with a high-intensity sweetener at 1:0.002 to 1:0.004 and add citric acid last to protect flavour top notes.
02
Isomalt dissolves more slowly than sucrose. For RTD formats, dissolve warm before blending.
03
Use isomalt as the bulking base and adjust body with a small share of soluble fibre if a fuller mouthfeel is required.
